The XII Cycle of Cultural Tours is back after the holidays' break. This coming Saturday, 2 September, the visit to Agramonte cemetery starts at 3.30 pm under the theme "The life and poets of Gustavo Romanoff Salvini (1825-1894)".

Conducted by musicologist and soprano Tânia Valente, accompanied by pianist Bernardo Menezes, the cultural tour includes visits to the tombs of Alexandre Braga, lyriscist and translator of Salvini's poems, Johanna Lehmann Andresen's tomb, Salvini's student to whom Salvini has dedicated two songs from the Portuguese Songbook and also the tomb of Karl Emil Biel, one of the first publishers of Salvini's songbook.

As for family relationships, the tour includes visiting the graveyards of Aurélia de Morais Sarmento, Salvini's daughter-in-law and one of the first women to graduate with a Medical Degree in Portugal and Bertino Daciano, who married one of Salvini's grand-daughters and the main responsible for the fact that Salvini's oeuvre hasn't disappeared into oblivion.

Bertino Daciano republished the Songbook and reedited issues that have contributed to Gustavo Salvini's recognition.

Finally, at the Tomb of Gustavo Romanoff Salvini, there will be an explanatory note on how an Italian-Russian Singing Teacher from the 19th century was a pioneer in the field of lyric Portuguese singing, in a time when it was most common to sing Opera in Italian.

+Info: All visits will have sign language translation into Portuguese (LGP), on demand upon registration application two days prior to visit.
