Tradition remains the same and the Municipality of Porto employees placed, once again, the cod and bolo-rei on the tables of hundreds of homeless people and families in need. The Christmas dinner offered by Municipal employees’ Centro Cultural e Desportivo (CCD) served, on Tuesday night, around a thousand meals.

“For many of them, this is the only Christmas they will have”, reinforces CCD president, António Gouveia Santos, who adds that, among the people having dinner, sent by parishes, civil parishes unions and street team, were people of “many nationalities and social strata that were previously well off”.

In addition to the warm meal, the mingling and entertainment, the guests were able to take with them “a high-quality jacket”, which purchase was the result of the “generosity of friends and employees” from Porto City Hall.

This year, Christmas was served by around three dozen volunteers and was, as usually, attended by the councillor for Social Cohesion, Fernando Paulo.
