Porto Holiday, Saint John Festival (Festas de São João) is celebrated annually on June 24. Nevertheless, long before, there are parties and celebrations all over town to pay a tribute to Saint John the Baptist, a celebration that mixes sacred and profane traditions.

The festivities that started in May 25, end June 25 with the "rusgas", in which inhabitants of the seven parishes in Porto parade throughout the city dressed in a traditional costume and singing.

The parade will depart from Batalha Square and will march to General Humberto Delgado Square, where the seven parishes parade before a panel of judges.

Each parish must organise a parade with no less than 30 participants. However, this year, the parade of the seven parishes result in the total number of 1.135 participants.
