Sacred music takes over, these days, the atrium of the Paços do Concelho (Town Hall) for a concert cycle integrated into the International Festival of Organ and Sacred Music of the Metropolitan Area and Diocese of Porto (FIOMS). The first took place on Monday and was the responsibility of organist Karol Hilla.

The cycle promises four more concerts, always at lunchtime - starting at 1 pm – until Friday. Thus, for tomorrow, the 24th, it will be the turn to listen to Daniel Ribeiro, on the organ, and Alexandra Quinta e Costa, soprano. On Wednesday, the 25th, Paulo Bernardino (organ) and Raquel Martins (transverse) follow. For Thursday, the 26th, it will be possible to watch the performance of Johannes Berger (organ) and to finish the cycle, it is scheduled for Friday, the 27th, with Samuel Pinto (organ) and Anthony Aarons (trumpet).

The third edition of FIOMS once again celebrates the region's organistic heritage for a month (October 19 to November 19) and promotes 44 concerts, in several churches in the diocese of Porto and in ten municipalities in the Greater Porto region.

In Porto, 20 concerts take place and, in addition to the cycle in the Porto Town Hall, concerts are also scheduled at the Igreja da Senhora da Conceição (27), the Igreja de São Lourenço (28), the Igreja de Santa Clara (29), the Igreja do Colégio de Nossa Senhora da Esperança (30), the Igreja das Carmelitas (31), the Mosteiro de São Bento da Vitória (1 November), the Igreja de São João Novo (2 November), the Igreja de São Martinho de Cedofeita (3 November), ending on 4 November with a two-organ concert at the Sé Catedral do Porto.

The main objective of the international festival is to preserve, promote and enhance the vast and rich organistic heritage of the Metropolitan Area and Diocese of Porto, stimulating the interest of the populations in sacred music, both vocal and organ.

The shows are free to enter. The programme and other information are available on the festival website.
