It took place at the premises of Centro de Inovação Social (CIS) Porto, a working session on “What can Porto do for…Focus: Victims of gender and domestic violence”.

The meeting was part of the municipal project “InPorto”, that aims to appeal to empathy and involvement of agents from civil society, the public, private, and academia sectors.

“This initiative [InPorto!] aims to promote dynamics which allow and enhance cooperation, experience exchange, information and the creation of a common vision and action for the impact ecosystem in the city”, mentioned the councillor for Social Cohesion of Porto City Hall, in his intervention, during the session.

On the topic, Fernando Paulo highlighted that this is a “complex problem, with little visibility, and with a huge impact on the victim’s life, as well as their families and communities”.

The session had the participation of Maria José Magalhães, professor and academic expert in the area of gender and domestic violence, who provided a global overview of the topic.

In addition to this topic, CIS Porto has already promoted other debates, especially on youth, and social and symbolic exclusion of people with disabilities.
