Porto Municipal services of Environment launched three series of Environmental Education programmes on Youtube. The focus is the initiative "Stay home for now, we bring Nature to you!"

Thus, all the knowledge and experience of a vast team of educators, social workers, artists and biologists, who work with thousands of people every year, namely families and children, at the pedagogical gardens, green spaces, at both seasonal and permanent workshops and at school activities will be shared through three educational series.

The first episode of the "De binóculos no sofá" series ("Binoculars in the sofa", free translation] has already premiered.

These last weeks, Porto Environmental Centre team prepared a plan to put its know-how available through the virtual world, in the current lockdown situation most of us are enduring.

As the team is on remote work, each episode is recorded from each team member's homes and this is, as well, a first for them, who are used to sensorial and in person experiences.

This first series - De binóculos no sofá - everyone is invited to sat quietly in their sofas and get to know a bird, a tree, a reptile, a plant, a mammal, an insect, with all the trivia that matters.

The first episode of this series talks about bees and drones, who pollinate flowers and plants. Second and third episodes bring to us trivia on the oak tree and the blackbird, respectively.

Just follow the #ficaemcasa and #debinoculosnosofa to follow all three episodes, of three minutes each approximately.

On 17th April, the second series "Histórias com ambiente dentro" ("Stories inside the Environment", free translation), targeted especially at families and children, with tales of environment. Here, each story offers an amazing challenge.

The first story is "Psicólogo dos Oceanos" ["The psychologist of the Oceans", free translation) and it is an original story by Ana Luísa Coutinho and Luís Monteiro, members of the Environment team of the Municipality of Porto.

Each Friday brings a new tale.

The hashtags #ficaemcasa and #contoscomambientedentro identify the programme on social media.

"Biodiversidade em casa" ["Biodiversity at Home", free translation) is the name of the third and last series, which première is scheduled for 23 April.

Each episode offers practical tips on how to promote biodiversity at home and also on food.

Each episode is released on Thursdays and teaches how to grow plants for salads and soups.

The current Environment Educational Programme is presented in virtual format till the end of 2020.

These are the perfect series for those non-experts but totally curious. And, guess what? Every week, there is a new episode.

Have a great time!
