It is true that students with an academic international experience are more likely to be targeted by global companies. As such, the University of Porto is keen to enabling its students to gain practical skills and international experience while building their resumes.

In the past 25 years, over 14 thousand students of the University of Porto (UP) have entered mobile educational programmes, in the context of Erasmus+, either for one school semester or a full academic year.

The school year 2016/2017, was the record year as 1016 students of the UP were sent to study abroad, in over thirty countries. The most sought after countries are Spain, Italy and Poland.

These International Mobility Programmes enable students to access to the benefits of mobile culture education and intercultural awareness.

"The University of Porto has actively promoted, for several years now, stronger participation by students in International Mobility Programmes, with a view to the development and optimization of their skills, in expanding and diversifying their study experience so they can be open for different educational, academic and professional contexts, and prepare for the challenges of the world today", explained Maria de Lurdes Correia Fernandes, Vice-Rector for International Relations of U.Porto.

Besides students, the number of professors and non-teaching staff to enter Erasmus+, the International Mobility Programme, has also increased. From 2014 to 2018, the U.Porto has had over 800 staff mobility.
