Porto, in northern Portugal, is the perfect destination to Season nine, episode 8 of Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown.
The host invited his former Les Halles boss Jose Meirelles to tour Porto and concentratet on its food and culture, and spent time with local chefs, home cooks and amateur foodies.
Food takes centre stage in this tour of the "Best European Destination 2017", where Bourdain dines a sumptuous pig tripe at A Cozinha do Martinho, enjoys an at-home meal of sea lamprey and stops by at Café O Afonso for local specialty Francesinha.
Bourdain then heads to the Douro Valley countryside to experience a traditional food celebration.
Besides Porto, the eight-episode season also features tours of Los Angeles, San Sebastian, Laos, Queens, NY, Antarctica, Oman, and Trinidad.
Episode 9, Porto, Portugal airdate is 25 June.
