For the first time, the Municipal Civil Protection registered less than fifty incidents, half of which minor events that were solved on site and only 25 people had to be transported to the hospital for monitoring and to avoid complications.

These figures are remarkably low, considering the great mobilization of people and thus showing a safe city and providing an admirable lesson in citizenship and civility in the city of Porto.

The Centre for Integrated Management, which was established two years ago by the City Hall, played a fundamental role in managing the events of the night of June 23 to 24. And this is highly significant when an estimated 500 thousand revellers were out in the streets celebrating São João.

On his Facebook page, Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto, commended the municipal staff and all those engaged in the making of this festivity: "I want to praise the "invisible" labour of hundreds of employees and municipal collaborators, security forces, transport and cleaning services. You are heroes, due to your diligence, caring and effort. Every year, these men and women make São João a cleaner, safer, more comfortable and sustainable feast. Our festivity makes us proud.  Porto makes us proud. Our public employees make us extremely proud. As the civility of our Porto. Thank you".
