More Airlines, more routes, mores destinations. Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport shows a consistent and progressive growth over the years, receiving 10 million passengers a year without losing performance quality.

By the end of 2017, the number of travellers should reach 10, 7 million and the tendency is to continue growing, building new connections to the world.

Investment and infrastructure works are preparing the future of Porto Airport, namely the extension of FOX transfer services, runway and airport extension, check-in and baggage system enhancement, just to mention a few.

The annual traffic of over ten million passenger movements comes on the same year that airliners such as Air Fance/KLM or Royal Air Maroc have announced new flight connections in the near future.

In 2018, for example, the region will be connected to New York (United Airlines), Toronto (Air Canada), Malta or Wroclaw (Ryanair and Wizz Air). Also the coming year, Porto will be Ryanair's new hub connecting traffic flows.

According to Mayor Rui Moreira, what is more significant is that the airport "continues to grow", with "no intermittence in the expansion".

"What we heard from VINCI last March and also today, is reason to believe that the airport will continue to grow", the Mayor enthuses.

International recognition

Porto Airport is an international role model, both in terms of structure and service. It was named best in Europe in the category of airports with 5 to 15 million passengers, "with a growth rate in productivity which is higher than the Community and world average", the Secretary State for Infrastructure spotlighted.

In this context, the Government has announced the intention of negotiating with TAP its operations in the northern region.

"We are working in the sense that in 2018 new routes operated by TAP from Porto should be announced and some routes that have been terminated should be resumed", the Secretary State declared.
