The three of the best: the winners of the São João Window Competition 2021 have been disclosed

The winners of the Best São João Window Competition 2021 have been disclosed. This contest is promoted by Porto City Hall, in partnership with the Porto Traders Association (Associação de Comerciantes do Porto), and the initiative’s main goal is to find out which shop windows best celebrate the São João Feast, a deeply rooted tradition in the Invicta. There are three awarded windows: first podium place wins a prize Money of 2.250 euros, the second gets 1.750 and the third receives 1.250 euros.

This was still a different way to celebrate São João, amid the pandemic. The competition was intended for traders in town to showcase the best window that celebrates the patron saint of Porto. For the first time, there was online voting.

This contest is promoted by Porto City Hall, in partnership with the Porto Traders Association (Associação de Comerciantes do Porto), and the initiative’s main goal is to boost creativity when it comes to maintaining a deeply rooted tradition of celebrating São João Feast, in the Invicta.

The first prize is granted to "Circus Network", a space that was established in 2012, as an informal cultural organisation and transformed into a creative agency, art gallery, store and co-working space since 2015. It is located in the Arts District, at Rua do Rosário.

Second prize is granted to the space "PAAZ, Arquitectura e Design”, located at the Rua de Sá da Bandeira, the work place of architect Paulo Azevedo, who presented a basil made of bricks.

The third store “Rocha & Leitão”, founded in 1983, runs a hardware and ironware business and won the third podium place. It is located at the Rua do Almada.

The awards were presented by the councillor for Economy, Tourism and Trade, Ricardo Valente. The winner wins a prize Money of 2.250 euros, the second podium place gets 1.750 and the third receives 1.250 euros.

The symbolic award of the “Best environmental friendly shop window” was granted to the gallery and workshop of contemporary jewellery “As 3 Jóias”, located at the Rua de Santa Teresa.

The “Best Shop window elected by the Public” was granted to “Servilusa Agências Funerárias”, at Rua de Santa Catarina.
