Student residence in Porto will offer good value accommodation for both students and interns

The Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira assured that the projects for the Student Residence in the former military barrack of Monte Pedral and in the Morro da Sé will be implemented.

Rui Moreira stated this on the occasion of the signature of a cooperation protocol between the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Porto and the Academic Federation of Porto (FAP), for the realisation of the first Academic neighbourhood, which will provide circa 1000 thousand new beds in town, with a price near 250 euros per month, starting the Academic year 2021-2022.

The Municipality of Porto also undertakes to be a part of the solution in the need to supply affordable housing and accommodation to University Students.

"I can assure you that the Monte Pedral project [of academic residences] will be implemented, as well as that of the Morro da Sé, which was at a standstill for many years. At least, since I left the presidency of the URC [Urban Rehabilitation Company]", declared Rui Moreira, saying that Porto City Hall is available to establish the needs and priorities "of other students' residences".
