What the city of Porto can do for migrants and ethnic minorities was the theme that guided another session of InPorto!, a municipal project that aims to appeal to the empathy and involvement of agents of civil society, the public, private sector and academia.

The meeting took place at the Porto Social Innovation Centre (CIS) and was attended by the Councillor for Social Cohesion, Fernando Paulo, who explained "the complexity of the subject".

"These themes are of utmost importance, as the way a society deals with migrants and ethnic minorities reflects their values, their tolerance and their respect for human rights. The challenges faced by these groups can affect both their quality of life and the social cohesion of a given region", he said at the opening of the work.

The session counted on the contributions of Paula Ferreira, a specialist in the area of migrants and ethnic minorities, who made a global framing of the theme.

The municipal project, InPorto! promotes dynamics that enhance collaboration, exchange of experiences, information and the creation of a common vision and action for the impact ecosystem in the city, with the involvement of several agents.

The project is the responsibility of CIS Porto, coordinated by the Municipal Division of Social Development and Innovation, whose main attributions are to train and empower social entrepreneurs and third-sector entities in the areas of Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation.
