The Serralves Foundation will establish a Research and Development Programme on the work of Álvaro Siza, which includes two tenders with a budget of two million euros.

The protocol that holds the Programme on the work of architect Álvaro Siza Vieira was signed this Monday, 8 April, between the Serralves Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, jointly with the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

The main goal is the creation of a solid body of knowledge, a hallmark on the work by Álvaro Siza Vieira, by professionals of various fields of study.

According to data published on the FCT's Webpage, the tenders will be launched in 2019 and 2020, respectively, and include architecture projects that connect and incorporate the architect's artwork with the surrounding and natural areas.

Also, the tenders regard the close links between architecture and arts, namely drawing, sculpture, cinema and visual and applied arts, the materialisation of architecture, including structures, technologies and materials and their relationship with the performance and the enveloping surroundings, according to Lusa.

The tender will support projects for the maximum time period of 24 months, and may be prolonged for another 12 months, if dully substantiated.

Applications must be submitted in English and are open till 16 May. The financial ceiling by project is 120 thousand euros.
