Campo Alegre movie theatre reopened last 11th June, after a three-months lockdown due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. On display, the filmography by Luis Buñuel, till 1st July.

The second phase of the cycle 25 X BUÑUEL features some of the most iconic film by the Spanish/Mexican director.

One of such films is "El Fantasma de la Libertad" [The Phantom of Liberty], a 1974 film that also marks Buñuel's filmmaking in Europe, and his collaboration with the producer Serge Sylberman and screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière, which would debut with the film "The Diary of a Chambermaid"(1963).

"The Phantom of Liberty" is a remarkable commercial hit by Buñuel, on display on 30th June, at 6.30pm or at 9.30pm.

This film does not follow a clear narrative, like many of Buñuel's films; instead, it offers pieces of somewhat surreal plots, like the girl playing poker with monks in her bedroom or a middle aged woman that bears the body of a young woman.
