Romantic tale in enchanted Sicily opens 11th edition of Italian Cinema Celebration in Porto
Article
The opening preview of "Sicilian Ghost Story" directed by Fabio Grassadonia and Antonio Piazza kicks-off the Italian Cinema Celebration in Porto, which will take place at Rivoli and Trindade Cinema between 4 and 8 April.
This 2017 Italian drama film is based on the real-life kidnapping and assassination of the son of a "pentito", a mobster that agreed to cooperate with the authorities.
The film was screened in the International Critics' Week section at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
The movie tells the story of a 12-year-old girl infatuated with her handsome classmate. Her loved one mysteriously disappears and the girl decides to venture into the enchanted Sicilian forests to find him, unaware of the dangers.
Stefano Savio, Director of this event, says that "we continue to promote Italian cinematography in Portugal by featuring a diverse and heterogeneous programming", also stating that the goal is to "meet different audiences and at the same time retaining our cultural identity".
This event is organised by the Association Il Sorpasso, and the last day of the Italian Film Celebration will present the screening of "In Guerra per Amore" [At war with Love], "L'Ora Legale" and "Povere ma Ricchi" at Trindade Cinema, and the screening of "Il Postino" [The Postman] by Michael Radford.
