Porto Water Innovation Week invites for conferences and Water Festival

Sunday, 24 September, Porto Water Innovation Week kicks off. Until the end of September, this event makes Porto the European Capital for Water and Innovation.

More than 1200 participants from 60 countries, two conferences, and two display areas for companies and investigation institutes, startups investigation, a cocreation lab and "team building" and the Aquaporto Festival make up the programme.

Big issues and innovative solutions are made more visible in a week that debates current global challenges.

This event is jointly organised by Porto City Hall, Águas do Porto, Águas de Portugal, and The National Laboratory for Civil Engineering and Portuguese Water Partnership.

Porto Water Innovation Week encompasses a comprehensive programme, namely EIP Water Conference and Mayors&Water Conference, both with a European stamp of approval, the "Water Innovation Lab Europe" and "Water & People".


EIP Water Conference 2017

This conference is promoted by the Portuguese Water Partnership, it takes place at the Customs Building on 27 and 28 September. 

This is the fourth Edition of this conference that will allow debating the major issues of innovation and business opportunities.

At the same time, there will be a display of 118 companies on the eastern and western wings of the Customs Building, comprising all businesses lines connected with water. The major aim of this exhibition of companies is stimulating the networking.

Also the Splash Innovation Stage, the startups competition; it includes 28 international applications, 16 finalists on stage to explain their projects and try to win prizes in the amount of 22 thousand euros.

Mayors & Water Conference 2017

It will take place 29 September, focusing on the Water Urban Agenda 2030 (AUA2030) and the description of case studies on sustainable and innovative solutions regarding water management in the cities.

It will be the occasion, as well, for political decision makers to sign the Porto Declaration for AUA2030, in which they will undertake to support the cooperation process between cities and the European Commission towards the development of the Agenda.

Water Innovation Lab Europe Porto 2017

This initiative is targeted at 9-16 year-olds, from 24 to 29 September. Participants with different backgrounds, from art to sciences and engineering will work collaboratively in order to find solutions for a resilient future.

Water & People

Porto Water Innovation Week closes with a public event, on 29 and 30 September, under the Water & People programme. It is the Aquaporto 2017, the great Water Festival, which is back to the City Park and aims involving both the public and the city, contributing to the awareness raising related to water scarcity at large.
