For two days, Porto hosts unprecedented training in the field of public murals art conservation. Thus, two renowned curators will lead an educational training referring to restoration methods and conservation techniques on urban art.

This type of training is usual in such countries as the USA, with a long standing tradition on street art, whereas in Portugal, this field of action is not as usual. Still, there is a growing awareness on the need of such actions.

Public Murals and Street Art Conservation is the topic of this masterclass that will take place on 14 and 15 June, supervised by Will Shank, American mural curator, living in Barcelona, and Maria Chatzidakis, member of the St.A.Co (Street Art Conservators).

The event will be held at the Creative Industries Centre of UPTEC - Scientific and Technologic Park from the Porto University, at the José Rodrigues Foundation and in the streets of Porto.

This initiative was organised by the Company from Porto, the 20|21, established 10 years ago to meet current challenges regarding the twentieth and twenty-first centuries art conservation.

Some of the activities planned include touring the different murals by different artists in town, to discuss the art features, namely implementation and conservation, as well as the ephemeral nature of street art.
