The 2nd edition of the "if you have a garden, we have a tree for you" project runs until February 5, 2017.

This environmental project is sponsored by Porto city Hall to promote environment and climate protection and to provide citizens, businesses and city organizations with trees and bushes for planting in gardens and parks all across the city of Porto.

This ecologically oriented initiative is in line with the municipal strategies for the Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change Programme, and is developed in the context of the FUTURO - project of 100,000 trees planted in the Metropolitan Area of Porto.

The goal is to raise awareness and mobilise target groups to plant 10,000 trees and native shrubs in private gardens of Porto by 2020.

More than 1600 trees were given away and planted in the previous edition, and for the 2nd edition 2100 plants of 10 different species are in place to be distributed at no charge in Porto. Seed packs of five different species will also be donated.

This is a unique opportunity for all citizens to becoming involved as active members of the city life quality and environmental policy.

Registration is open until February 5, 2017. More relevant information available here.
