As of today blue flags are flying at beaches in Porto. The world-renowned eco-label trusted by millions around the globe is flying in eight beaches in Porto.

Novelty this season is the second "Accessible Beach, Beach for all', the Praia do Carneiro that together with Praia do Homem do Leme offer the necessary upgraded and appropriate structures and conditions to meet the needs of people with reduced mobility.

Also worth noting, the award "World Class" designation given by QUERCUS extends to all eight beaches in Porto.

The Portuguese Environment Agency is the organization that runs the Blue Flag programme in Portugal, and after an inspection, maintained the eight blue flag beaches in Porto and added two Accessible beaches.

The bathing area of Castelo do Queijo is the only one with no awards but still the quality of the beach is considered "Good".  In order to be awarded a Blue Flag, the quality of the bathing water has to be ranked "excellent".

The Blue Flag represents a commitment to both people and the environment.
