The 76th edition of the Madrid Book Fair runs from May 27 to June 11 and Portugal is the invited country. The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, will join the Kings of Spain at the official opening of this event.

This will also be the time for Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, to present the Spanish edition of "Húmus", by Raul Brandão, as well as the Porto Book Fair 2017 edition programming.

This is the first effective step towards the internationalization of the Porto Book Fair, which will be held from 1 and 17 September at the Palácio de Cristal Gardens. Porto Book Fair has its own stand at Madrid Book Fair with the aim of promoting Portuguese literature and culture.

Also present at the Madrid Book Fair will be Nuno Júdice, poet and researcher who won the Reina Sofia Iberoamerican Prize 2003 and Maria João Reynaud, Professor at University of Porto, two reputed experts in Raul Brandão's oeuvre.

"Húmus" centennial, by Raul Brandão, who was born in Porto one hundred and fifty years ago, is the first existentialist novel in Portuguese literature and the new Spanish edition is sponsored by brand "porto." at Madrid Book Fair.

The city of Porto will also be highlighted in the Spanish capital city on June 6, with a special session devoted to Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, who will be honored at the Porto Book fair in September.
