Activities appropriate for all age groups, namely debates, lectures, spoken word sessions, film screenings, workshops, exhibitions, poetry, performances, get-together, dance and displays filled every day the Porto Book Fair 2017. A programming which endowed books and literature a bigger role.

The result is clear in the number of visitors: 285.000 visitors, including the President of the Republic, a record number that confirms the right decision to stabilise the cultural and recreational dimensions, thereby giving it a particular depth.

The previous editions of Porto Book fair, organised by Porto City Hall, have honoured writer and translator Vasco Graça-Moura, and writers Agustina Bessa-Luís and Mário Cláudio. This year's edition the Fair is dedicated to writer and poet Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen.

Concurrently, two agreed priorities were met by the municipality: the balance between the strong number of people in the enclosure of the Fair and the concern for the Gardens of the Crystal Palace. The municipality has been refurbishing the gardens in an investment of 1, 3 million euros, including the consolidation of the stone walls (already concluded).

On the whole, the 4th Edition of Porto Book fair, directly organised by Porto City Hall involved a total investment of 100 million euros.

The exhibitions on display at the Municipal Gallery "Quatro Elementos" and "O Anjo de Timor e outras histórias - ilustrações para Sophia" are still open to the public who can visit them for free until 12 November.
