Porto nominated for four World Travel Awards 2022

Porto is in the running for four World Travel Awards 2022, the awards known as the tourism “Oscars”. In this year’s edition of the competition that chooses the best places to visit in Europe, it enters the race for “Europe's Leading City Break Destination,” “Europe's Leading City Destination,” “Europe's Leading Cultural Destination” and “Europe's Leading Seaside Metropolitan Destination.”

The voting in the several categories takes place online until August the 8th and the winners will be announced at the World Travel Awards ceremony, in Mallorca, Spain, on October the 1st, where some of the main decision makers, leading figures and influencers of European travels are expected

The World Travel Awards are a global initiative that recognizes and rewards excellence in travel and tourism based on the votes from travel industry professionals, media, and consumers around the world.

It is recalled that, in the 2020 edition of this competition, Porto won the award for “Europe's Leading City Break Destination”, surpassing the competition from 13 cities, including Amsterdam (Netherlands), Athens (Greece), Lisbon (Portugal), Paris (France) or Venice (Italy).

“With Europe’s travel and tourism economy enjoying a long-awaited revival, the competition to be number one is healthier than ever,” believes World Travel Awards founder Graham Cooke.

This year’s nominees compete in a wide range of categories which include aviation, tourist attractions, car rental, cruises, destinations, hotels and resorts, meetings and events, travel agencies and tour operators.
