One year past, the municipal company Ágora settles in the Beach Stadium, next to the Edifício Transparente. Until the end of August, the site will be the stage of a vast set of sports events, namely handball, football, foot volley and beach tennis. This weekend kicks off with another edition of Porto Beach Rugby.

The Estádio da Praia site will host several sporting events as football, handball, beach tennis and foot volley, but the debut event is the first round of Portugal’s Beach Rugby Trophy. According to the organisation, the event gathers 12 teams, eight male teams and four female teams. All guidelines issued by the DGS are implemented.

In addition to the best national teams, the tournament already confirmed the attendance of several international teams, with the highlight for the European champions, the French of Ovale Beach.

On Sunday, 27 June, Porto Beach Rugby features a tournament by the formation classes (under-6 to the under-12), which will be played in the morning and the Youth Cup, for the formation classes under-14 and under-16, scheduled for the afternoon.

In July, the Estádio de Praia hosts two stages of the Regional Handball competition, the And’Praia. Matches take place between Thursday and Sunday, with the first stage scheduled for 8, 9, 10 and 11 July, and the second stage from 15 to 18 July.

The competition is open to senior classes, under-17 and under-14. Regulations and applications can be consulted at the Associação de Andebol do Porto website.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, and the preventive measures in place, namely seat capacity, access to the Estádio de Praia is exclusive to athletes, teams and participants in the respective competitions.

The full timetable of competitions will be made available soon.
