Port of Leixões hit a record high of stopovers

This year, the sea Port of Leixões has hit a record number of stopovers, with both terminals processing, altogether, 100 stopovers and almost 96 thousand passengers, as announced today by the Port Authority.

This information was also disclosed by Agency Lusa and current figures point to a 19% growth regarding the number of vessels that have docked at Leixões Port and a 33% increase in the passenger number as well.

The milestone of 100 stopovers was reached for the first time in one year, regarding cruise ships.

Vessel size has increased also, which represents a "34% growth compared with the same period last year".

Worth spotlighting that 12 new vessels "have chosen the new cruise terminal in Leixões for their routes".

The figures demonstrate a sharp increase from 2011, year of the opening of the new quay in Matosinhos, given that the new terminal has hosted 252 cruise ship stopovers and more than 360 million passengers".
