From 9th March to 25th March, there have been 1.015 transportation services by taxi to and from vaccination sites against Covid-19 in Porto, under the cooperation agreement between Porto City Hall and the two taxi shuttles operating in the Municipality of Porto. This accession represents a strong contribution to mobility in the city, as it eases traffic and parking constraints nearby vaccination centres.

It is worth mentioning that the Municipality of Porto supports taxi rides in town to transport the elderly to and from vaccination centres, namely the Health Centres in the Western and Eastern part of the city, and that Taxi fares are two euros per one-way trip, and round-trips are 4 euros.

Moreover, taxi rides reach parts of the town that are not covered by any bus, metro or train lines. Residents (and attendants) should call a taxi via the phone number 939 955 263. For each taxi trip, the Municipality of Porto will cover costs up to a maximum of six euros.

This cooperation agreement, signed with Raditáxis and with Táxis Invicta, is also especially important as, due to this ongoing pandemic, the taxi business has experienced a terrible crisis. This is also a way to mitigate losses by taxi owners, who, as a whole, account for 691 out of the 699 taxi Licences granted in Porto.

Taxi shuttles operating in the city are a vital part regarding transportation to and from vaccination centres at a reduced cost, in a quick and comfortable manner.
