The art gallery Nuno Centeno won the Focus Prize by the Frieze New York, one of the most relevant contemporary art fairs, in the category for Galleries that have been established less than 12 years ago.

The selection panel is composed of Christopher Bedford (director of the Baltimore Museum of Art), Omar Kholeif (senior curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago) and Suzanne Cotter (director of the Serralves Museum from 2012 to 2017 and currently director at the MUDAM Luxembourg Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean).

The jury stated that the winner was chosen because Nuno Centeno was bold enough to present artwork by Dan Rees, Adriano Amaral, Ana Cardoso, Adriano Costa or Gabriel Lima.

About 200 art galleries have participated in this edition of the Frieze New York from over 30 countries, which took place in New York, showcasing some of the most important artists of our time.

The Nuno Centeno art gallery from Porto has been showcasing its work in several international fairs, namely ARCO Madrid & Lisboa, Miami Art Basel or Art Brussels.

Its founder, Nuno Centeno, was selected one of Europe's 10 Most Respected Art Dealers in 2016 by Artnet.
