Children in the parishes of Campanhã and Ramalde now have two new spaces to play and practice sports outdoors. The playgrounds created in Praça da Corujeira and in Parque Desportivo de Ramalde aim to encourage dynamics between generations and promote healthy lifestyles.

The Municipality of Porto has sought to install new recreation spaces for children and sports in a thorough way, meeting the needs of the population and always following an assessment of the existing proximity network.

The strategy adopted is to favour the installation and renovation of these equipment in an approach of proximity and ensuring that the placement of the structures is carried out in the widest possible spaces and without major visual obstacles.

In line with the surrounding environment and assembled with equipment that is intended to be inclusive and easily accessible, the new playgrounds seek to combine the entertainment of the youngest with sports, as well as encourage some intergenerational dynamics that promote physical activity at multiple ages.

The parks were inaugurated this Friday morning by the vice-mayor responsible for the department of Environment and Climate Transition, Filipe Araújo, by the councilwoman for Health and Quality of Life, Catarina Araújo, as well as by the presidents of the respective parish councils, Paulo Ribeiro for Campanhã, and Patrícia Rapazote for Ramalde.

They are two more structures that appeal to the practice of outdoors activity, after the installation, in February, of sports and fitness equipment in 18 locations in the city.
