Nazim Ahmad, Ismaili Imamat’s Representative in Portugal was welcomed at Casa do Roseiral, by Mayor of Porto Rui Moreira.

Nazim Ahmad, Ismaili Imamat’s Representative in Portugal was welcomed today at Casa do Roseiral, the official residence of the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira. Nazim Ahmad was accompanied by Nicholas Mckinlay, Global Director of Programmes at the Aga Khan Foundation and Karim Merali, CEO of the Aga Khan Foundation in Portugal.

The meeting was held over lunch, hosted by Mayor Rui Moreira, which was the perfect opportunity to exchanging amongst themselves any information regarding the work developed by the Aga Khan Portugal Foundation in the promotion of the cultural sector. This has been a common ground between the Municipality of Porto and the Foundation in their joint collaborations in the past years.

Two years ago, Prince Aga Khan visited the city of Porto and was bestowed the Keys to the City by Mayor Rui Moreira. On that occasion, Prince Aga Khan was accompanied by his brother, Prince Amyn.

At the time, Rui Moreira praised the work by Prince Aga Khan as regards the promotion of culture, as well as the Foundation’s work toward improvement of the environment, health, education, architecture, culture, microfinance, rural development, disaster reduction, the promotion of private-sector enterprise and the revitalisation of historic cities.
