National Theatre São João opens theatre and dance shows soon

The next four months of the National Theatre São João (TNSJ) include seven premieres, of which three dance shows and several other shows.

The April/July season features performances by Renata Portas, Shantal Shivalingappa, Olga Roriz, Joana Providência, Luísa Costa Gomes and Inês Barahona.

The shows include "Ivone, Princesa de Borgonha", by Witold Gombrowicz, "Lulu" by Frank Wedekind, "Maria" by "Frei Luís de Sousa", and also Virginia Woolf?s Orlando.

The DDD festival will also be hosted by TNSJ, namely "A Meio da Noite", a world premiere by Olga Roriz; "Rumor", by Joana Providência; and "Impro Sharana", by Indian choreographer and dancer Shantala Shivalingappa, who will deliver a masterclass as well.

In the context of the FITEI - Festival Internacional de Teatro de Expressão Ibérica, the programme includes the presentation of "Walking with Kylián. Never Stop Searching" by Paulo Ribeiro, and "Mendoza" by Mexican Company Los Colochos.

The parallel programming spotlights theatre workshops and presentations by Drama Schools in the city, namely the cycle "Leituras no Mosteiro", devoted to "mulheres trágicas" [Tragic Women] and works by Seneca, Jean Racine and Jean Anouilh, covering about two thousand years of literary production.
