Nature provides children and adults alike with enriching knowledge and skills, by experiencing the great outdoors and thus profiting from an array of social, educational and planetary benefits.

The "Ambiente em Família" activity resumes on 24th July, after the shutdown due to the current pandemic, for two can't-miss activities.

The first one to resume is the Evening with Bats - Noites de Morcegos - on 24th July, at Pasteleira Park. Registrations are mandatory. Register here.

Take this opportunity to know this night creature and dispel myths about this nocturnal flying mammal. For starters, bats are the only mammals capable of flying like birds and their vision is more accurate than that of most humans.

The second activity is held on 12th August, at Quinta do Covelo, the perfect time to gaze at a shooting star memorable moment, namely the Perseids, which is a prolific meteor shower associated with the comet Swift-Tuttle. Also, meteors are named that way because meteor debris lie in the Perseus constellation.

This activity is oriented by Porto Planetarium - Living Science Centre and the Astrophysics Institute and Space Science (IA), which includes observation sessions with telescopes. See mandatory registration here.

Activities will be held outdoors exclusively and are limited to 15 people. These sessions are primarily aimed at adults, as well.

The sessions are participation free, but prior registration is mandatory, in line with the health measures issued by the Health Authorities, namely social distancing, respiratory etiquette, hand hygiene and use of face masks.
