In two months, more than 5 500 visitors were able to admire the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Verdades.

Porto City Hall decided to refurbish the chapel a couple of months ago, and this has proven a very positive initiative as thousands of tourists and visitors visited this 17th century temple, especially the pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.

It is worth mentioning that this shrine had already been desecrated. It was now properly restored, on the initiative of Porto City Hall, to act as a pilgrim support centre.

Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, visited the chapel to assess the result of these refurbishing works.

The restoring of the building was conducted by the Municipality of Porto in the framework of the joint application of 10 municipalities to the NORTE2020 Programme, themed "Valorisation of the ways to Santiago - The Portuguese Way along the Coast", whose implementation is now ongoing.

Information on the support service provided by the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Verdades is available on the website already established under this joint application (www.caminhoportuguesdacosta.pt) and by warning notices inside the chapel and also leaflets and flyers.

The Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Verdades is located nearby Sé Cathedral, where the official pilgrim's credential is handed out, and also Guerra Junqueiro House-Museum, from where the Chapel' surveillance system is monitored.

The Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Verdades - Pilgrim Support Centre on the way to Santiago de Compostela is open to the public free of charge, from 10 am to 5.30 pm, from Tuesday to Sunday. It closes on Monday (in line with museum opening times).
