Economic relations between Portugal, Spain and Latin America were on the agenda at the reception of the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, to a group of institutional and corporate leaders from the Conselho Empresarial Aliança para a Ibero-América(CEAPI).

At the Casa do Roseiral, the Mayor of Porto welcomed around 30 businessmen from Portugal, Spain, Andorra, Peru, and Argentina. “Portugal and Spain have a set of historical relationships with several countries in the world that we could develop much more effectively if we promoted them together. That is why these initiatives are very important, and why we should have more strategies like this. Having companies that are not only Portuguese or Spanish, but that operate in this joint sphere”, stressed the Mayor.

“Portugal is a key player in the post-pandemic recovery of Ibero-America. But the work to ensure that this region remains a region of the future requires joint action by governments, the private sector and society in each of the countries that comprise it”, indicated the president of CEAPI, Nuria Vilanova.

The visit of this group to Porto, which included Dom Duarte Pio de Bragança, the businessman António Amorim, among other personalities, was part of a visit designed to strengthen and promote relations between businessmen from Portugal, Spain, and Latin America. In addition to Rui Moreira, the CEAPI delegation met with the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and with the Spanish ambassador in Portugal, Marta Betanzos Roig.

CEAPI is an association formed by 190 entrepreneurs, chairmen of important Ibero-American companies, whose mission is to value the role of businessmen/women and their impact on society, promoting a commitment to sustainability.
