The Iranian community residing in Porto will gather this Wednesday, December 21, to celebrate the Yalda, an ancestral tradition, where the Iranian people gather until dawn, hoping to chase away the demons of darkness and wake up in freedom. The meeting is scheduled for the Conservatório de Música do Porto, at 6:30 pm.

The cultural event is open to the entire population to present the Iranian culture and remind the current political situation in the country. The ceremony will feature a set of cultural activities, including music, poetry, performance, and video as well as a final gastronomic moment.

Admission requires previously booking online.

Remember that on December 10, International Human Rights Day, the building of Porto City Hall was illuminated with the colours of the Iranian flag, in solidarity with the feminist protest movements against the intolerance of the Iranian regime and at the request of some Iranian students residing in Porto.
