This year, Porto welcomes Festival Trengo in a different format than usual, as the Trengolas kicks off on 28th August, featuring 20 performances devoted to circus arts, which are also included in this year's Porto Book Fair and the programming of Porto Municipal Theatre.

The Trengolas initiative kicks off on 28th August and runs till 19th September in three iconic venues in Porto, namely the Park of São Roque, the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal and Praça de D. João I.

The usual Trengo Circus Festival had to be trimmed due to the ongoing public health crisis; still, the 5th edition of Trengo - Circus Festival of Porto, which would take place in the city, from 1st to 5th July, will persist, in a different format, adapted to the current pandemic scenario.

The municipal company Ágora - Cultura e Desporto and the company Erva Daninha joined efforts to find and alternative format to still bring circus to town. Thus, the Trengolas will take Festival Trengo's place in Porto, this 2020, in August and September.

Over 40 artists and technicians, who live in Portugal, will deliver real entertainment performances and show audiences what Circus Arts are all about. The purpose is to bring to Porto new proposals in the circus art, while engaging audiences in a fun and family environment.

The Festival Trengo is presented in Porto since 2016 and every year it offers numerous contemporary circus performances. Its entire programming is focused on the new circus approaches, keeping a close link to national artists.

Trengo is a project by company Erva Daninha, jointly produced with the City Hall, through Ágora and Porto Municipal Theatre, and supported by the Directorate-General for Arts.
