The Clérigos will have music and parties during the entire month, until the Reis concert by the Porto Business School choir. The Irmandade dos Clérigos brings back the month of Christmas with a long list of cultural events to offer Porto and its visitors.

After the sunset, the best viewpoint of the city opens, until the 7th January, in the Clérigos By Night initiative. The genius of the Orquestra XXI musicians is joined by masters of the monumental Carillion and the choir of the Academia de Música do Porto, among other artists who will make the city’s Christmas Season even more musical.

Started at the beginning of the month and with a long list of events until the Reis concert, by the Leading Voices from Porto Business School choir, the Clérigos’ agenda will fill the city centre with music alluding to the season. The Carillion and its 49 bells will ring, daily, at Torre dos Clérigos, at noon, until the end of the month, offering Christmas songs. On Wednesdays, the event can be followed via Facebook.

"Clérigos by Night"

Since last Friday, nightlife in Porto and the left bank of the Douro, from Ribeira to Foz, has once again emerged in the Clérigos by Night initiative. Between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., the viewpoint at the top of the historic 18th century tower, designed by Nicolau Nasoni opens, providing unforgettable views in an almost 360ºC angle.

Night visits will be conducted in 30 minutes period, to enjoy the view safely and comfortably, with the last climb taking place at 10:30 p.m., between the 15th of the current month and January the 7th (exceptions on the 24th, 25th and 31st of December, and January the 1st). In this special season, there is the possibility of seeing the Christmas lightings from the rooftop of Torre dos Clérigos, at 76 meters high.

One of the highlights of the season’s celebration will be the concert by Orquestra XXI, an awarded group of Portuguese musicians living outside of Portugal and linked together by their country of birth and their love for music. The maestro, Dinis Sousa, assistant of Sir John Eliot Gardiner in the United Kingdom, will conduct the ensemble of dozens of artists who will fill the church with a lineup of classical music.
