Porto was the chosen city to set up the new research and development centre of German company Devexperts. This company specializes in the development of highly complex software solutions and services for the Capital Markets industry. Devexperts is headquartered in Munich, Germany and it is estimated to create 80 jobs in Porto within the next two years.

One week after having won the World Excellence Award for Best Startup-Friendly City of Europe, the city of Porto has thus once again demonstrated that foreign companies are seeking to invest in Porto.

The German company was established in 2002. The main goal of setting up an operations centre in Porto is to expand its activities in Europe, according to Newspaper "Jornal de Negócios", which also states that "Porto was chosen over the Check Republic and Hungary".

As stated by the said newspaper, other key factors to selecting Porto out of these three destinations are the strong presence of the Academia, the high-quality education and training and the city's entrepreneurial spirit.

The company is already recruiting and the location has also been established (Península Building, in Boavista). The company's office shall start operating in late April.

Since the establishing of Invest Porto, and the opening up of the economy in Porto to attract foreign investment, created by Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto, in 2015, the city is definitely "under the radar" of international and national technological businesses, namely Euronext, Natixis, Vestas, Critical Software and Hostelworld.
