The Sport Club do Porto has a new nautical station in the Freixo Marina. The facilities opened last Saturday and the ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira and the councillor for Youth and Sports of the Municipality of Porto, Catarina Araújo, upon invitation by the president of the centennial club of the city, Paulo Barros Vale.

This equipment will enable not just the club but also the city to have a permanent basis for rowing, sailing, stand up and paddle sports performance.

This is an investment that is fully covered by the club, under the Modernisation Plan of Freixo River Bank, which is a concession holder of that sports training.

The Sport Club do Porto was founded in 1904 by two rowing aficionados: José Marques Barbosa and José Meirelles.

The club also devotes to different sports modalities, with both national and international reference, namely rowing, gymnastics, athletics, sailing, handball, shooting, filed hockey, riding, swimming, racing, weightlifting, karate, tennis and fencing.
