At the stroke of midnight, on Saint John's celebrations, 24th July, a spectacular firework will mark one of the highlights of this ancient festivity, which dates back to the city's foundation.

The Day 24th June marks the celebration of São João, a popular festival in which people honour the Patron Saint of the city and engage in both ancient profane and religious rituals all across town.

The main streets are packed with residents, visitors and tourists eager to party and to embrace this popular feast.

The fascinating spectacle of light, music and fireworks will enliven the Invicta skies as well as the spirit of revellers all across Porto.

This year's theme is "revelry in a passionate evening" and it will last 19 minutes and 30 seconds.

The spectacle will take place in the Douro River, downstream the Luiz I Bridge, set to the song "Supremacy", by Muse, among other.

Revellers can gaze at the sky for a most impressive dance of lights, colour and music.

The upper and lower decks of Luís I Bridge will also offer the traditional "Cascades" of São João.

Prior to the fireworks and after, there are various musical performances at Avenida dos Aliados and in several other places throughout the city streets so that partygoers can enjoy the longest and the merriest night in town.
