Film cult features double session with Jeanne Balibar and Mathieu Amalric

Porto Municipal Theatre presents a journey through cult cinema, between Trieste and Porto, with Jeanne Balibar and Mathieu Amalric, on 23 January.

The double session, which features two 35mm negative colour films, takes place at Rivoli and starts at 6.30 pm with the screening of "Le Stade de Wimbledon", by Mathieu Amalric, followed by the presentation of the film "Trois ponts sur la rivière" by Jean-Claude Biette at 10 pm.

Cláudia Coimbra, researcher at the Faculty of Arts of Porto University presents Amalric's film "Le Stade de Wimbledon" released in August 2001 in the context of the "Festival du film de Locarno". The film is about the personal and literary pursuit in the cross-border town of Trieste, in Italy.

At 10 pm, the screening of the "Trois ponts sur la rivière" by French filmmaker Jean-Claude Biette, tells the story of Arthur Echéant, a young teacher who lives alone with his cat. Arthur's PhD thesis is at a standstill and he decides to travel to Lisbon to find inspiration next to the reputed professor Almeida. When he arrives in Portugal, he learns that Professor Almeida has moved to Porto.

Tickets cost 3 euros, and this initiative by Porto Municipal Theatre marks the opening of a new film season on Tuesdays at Rivoli, organised by Medeia Filmes and sponsored by Flâneur Bookshop.
