The works by the six final candidates to the Paulo Cunha e Silva Art Prize have created a collective exhibition, which will be on show as of 9th June, scheduled to start at 6 pm, at Porto Municipal Gallery.

This process started last July, when the names of the selected candidates were announced by the prize judging panel, composed of curators João Laia and Vicente Todolí, choreographer Meg Stuart and visual artist Julião Sarmento.

Christine Sun Kim, from the USA; Jonathas de Andrade, from Brazil; June Crespo, from Spain; Mariana Caló and Francisco Queimadela, from Portugal; Naufus Ramírez Figueroa, from Guatemala; and Olga Balema, from Ukraine.

The jury's decision was made upon assessment of the 47 portfolios submitted to the PCS Art Prize. The four jurors had selected 16 curators to oversee the artwork presented, which according to the jury, was a major show of art.

Curated by Guilherme Blanc and João Laia, the exhibition "Prémio Paulo Cunha e Silva" [Paulo Cunha e Silva Art Prize] will be on show from 9th June to 19th August.

The Jury final settlement will be announced in the course of the exhibit opening.
The winner of this first edition of the Paulo Cunha e Silva Art Prize will be awarded a prize money of 25,000 euros, with the support of the Millennium bcp Foundation.

The Paulo Cunha e Silva Art Prize was created by the City Council of Porto as a tribute to the former Councillor for Culture, who held office from September 2013 until November 11th 2015 and it is aimed at celebrating the excellence in art.

The prize, based in the city of Porto, is aimed at international artists aged under 40 who have had no more than one solo exhibition in internationally acknowledged art venues.
