The European Researchers' Night is back to celebrate science, with the aim of bringing researchers and the general public closer together, highlighting the impact thereof on their day-to-day lives.

The European Researchers' Night events have been organized since 2005 on the last Friday of September in hundreds of cities all around Europe. This is the perfect opportunity for young people to envision a professional career in the scientific domain.

The Researchers' Night will be held on the subject "day-to-day science" and features lectures, workshops, laboratory visits and fitting into a scientist's shoes, and interactive games as well, thus enabling participants to learn more about research and its day-to-day application.

The event takes place in the future centre of the Museum of Natural History and Science of Porto University. The activities run from 6 pm to midnight.

Participation is free and the event is jointly organised with 19 partners, gathering over one hundred researchers, students and volunteers, who will have the opportunity to learn more about animals and ecosystems, assess the quality of water, to make a dessert based on molecular cuisine or building an egg that won't break. Physics, chemistry, medicine, maths, engineering or ecology are just examples of the creative challenges that participants will be able to experience.

This special night features almost 30 on-going activities from 6 pm to midnight, and at the same time a debate will be held on the ways investigation can be used in daily life, a session devoted to knowing how old graffitis are, just to name a few.
