The Best European Destination Official Website congratulated Rui Moreira on his official Facebook page by saying "Congratulations to all those who put Porto in the light, every day".

Rui Moreira was sharing his personal view on being a mayor, in an article that he writes every week for a daily newspaper, stating that "this past week was a great week for Porto and for those who made it great in Porto, and it was not me, but all those who believed, who committed themselves, who risked. These are bright moments that light a sparkle in one's eyes."

"It's difficult to be mayor, it's difficult because it's a huge responsibility, because residents always think we could do a little more in their street, they do not understand that a mayor does not run the Health Centre or cannot interfere with the Metro timetable. Because any mayor would like to do a bit more for each of his/her citizens. Because it is hard to fall asleep and to wake up to the same problems. Because the bureaucratic machine and centralism are time consuming and make you run out of patience."

But then, Rui Moreira goes on mentioning the numerous happy events take took place in the city of Porto this past week, such as new metro lines being launched, a business centre alive and kicking, in the city centre where once was a derelict historic building.

And Rui Moreira goes on avowing that "it is good to be mayor. Because at the end of the day we feel we made a difference in someone's life, someone who needed a home, and then it was worthwhile. Because it is with great pride I see the city feeling good about itself. The smile of a child in a playground is a reward in itself. Yes. And all that is happiness". Affirms Rui Moreira.

"At the end of the day, it's not that difficult being a Mayor", the mayor concludes.

And the Best European Destination Official Website commented: "it is a bit like planting seeds, projects, and facing storms to protect what is most important. An endless work but with some very beautiful moments"
