End date of "Cultura em Expansão" takes cinema and the "Oupa!" Project to Rivoli this weekend

The Municipal Programme "Cultura em Expansão" is drawing to a close; the fourth edition ends in festivity and the result of a year's work will emerge right this weekend, at Porto Municipal Theatre, in Rivoli.

Saturday afternoon, 16 December is devoted to the Cine Club and the "Nove e Meia" project [Nine and a half] - Nomad Cine Club that has organised workshops on initiation to film designed for young people in social institutions in the city.

Starting at 4 pm, the work of the newly trained film directors and technicians will be premiered. Access is free.

Sunday, 17 December, the programme for the closure of "Cultura em Expansão" continues with cinema, as well, with the world premiere of the latest film by João Salaviza and Ricardo Alves Jr.

Following an invitation by Porto city Hall, the directors will present the result of their artistic residency project in the city of Porto, the production and filming of a short film, titled "Russa", which will be screened at Isabel Alves Costa Auditorium, at 4 pm.

Short after, around 5 pm, the representative social and artistic intervention project that Porto City Hall has launched in 2015 in the district of Cerco, the "Oupa!".

This fourth edition was carried out in the housing districts of Lordelo by reputed artists, namely Capicua and D-One (musical direction), André Tentúgal and Vasco Mendes (video), Tiago Espírito Santo, Patrícia Costa and Pedro Nascimento (coordination and production).

These last six months of the artistic residency were meant to involve the neighbourhood youth in workshops of writing and production, video, performance, promotion of shows, and also to stimulate the Do it Yourself spirit and to heighten their sense of belonging to the community and thus, to society.

The significant performance of "Oupa!" will be on stage at Manoel de Oliveira Auditorium Sunday evening, 17 December, showing that Culture pervades ever increasingly the city of Porto, spanning arenas, performers and audiences.
