The University of Porto is among the 200 institutions of higher education worldwide - and 75 in Europe - that best promote their students' employability, according to the 2017 edition of the QS Graduate Employability Rankings, recently released by the British consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

This ranking, published for the first time in 2015, is designed to help prospective students make informed and balanced comparisons of leading universities around the globe, in areas such as research, teaching, internationalization and employability.

The University of Porto has one of the best performances when it comes to transition from university to the job market. The strategy implemented by the U. Porto, to develop close relationships with employers in order to promote the employability of its graduates has contributed to the effectiveness of university education and high employment rate among its graduates.

At central level, the U.Porto provides an Employability Office (GAEE.UP), whose mission is to support the professional integration of our students and graduates. Initiatives promoted by the GAEE-UP include the ACREDITA-TE programme and the organization of the International Job Fair of the University of Porto (FINDE.U).

The Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto (UPTEC) also provides an online platform where students and alumni can find job opportunities and research grants offered by UPTEC companies.

"(...) we recognize that our role as a university is to create the necessary conditions for the promotion of talents in the labour market ", emphasizes Manuel Fontes de Carvalho, Pro-Rector of the University of Porto, Student Support and Employability Office.

Globally, the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2017 is led by the universities of Stanford (USA), MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) and Tsinghua University (China).
