Debate on refugee crisis at Casa do Infante

"Refugee: Think, Decide, Act" was the topic of the debate on the refugee crisis held at Casa do Infante and organised by JPAB Law Firm.

This event was sponsored by Porto City Hall, "a municipality that tends to discuss different ideas", said José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, lawyer and former Minister at the opening session in which Mayor Rui Moreira also took part.

This is a relevant issue, especially because, suddenly, "it seems as though there is no longer this refugee problem. But it is there still", declared Aguiar-Branco, drawing the attention to the political agenda that promotes neglect.

In this context, Aguiar-Branco affirmed that "fighting ignorance, which is the number one enemy of any society is, perhaps, a priority". 

Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto, pointed out that "We, Portuguese, have already been on both sides. The issue of migration, of refugee also concern our history".

"What I want to convey is that this is a matter of increased sense of responsibility and a better understanding on our side", the Mayor concluded.
