DañsFabrik Festival in Brest Focus on Portugal featuring Porto Municipal Theatre

The Seventh edition of the DañsFabrik Festival, which takes place in Brest, a city in the Finistère département in Brittany, is the stage to a global celebration of dance.

The activities programme extends throughout the city, in the neighbourhoods, in theatres, in the streets and at the iconic Ateliers des Capucins.

The festival gathers artists such as Lisbeth Gruwez and Maarten Van Cauwenberghe from Le Quartz, it presents performances by Nina Santes, Bernardo Montet, Alain Michard, Carole Perdereau, Mani A. Mungai, Fragan Gehlker, Clément Dazin, Thierry Micouin and Tiago Guedes.

Tiago Guedes, choreographer and director of Porto Municipal Theatre, is the guest honour and curator of Focus Portugal in the Festival, which includes dance projects to be presented on stage and on public spaces, as well as one installation, all of which coproduced and previously presented in Porto.

The programme Focus Portugal includes the show "Sete Anos Sete Peças". "Terça-feira: Tudo o que é sólido dissolve-se no ar", by choreographer Cláudia Dias, who presents a visual narrative to tell the story of a ten year old fleeing from Syria.

Also, Ana Rita Teodoro and Vera Mantero present artwork performances based on the traditional Portuguese model in Brest.

"Brother" by Marco da Silva Ferreira features on the last day of the festival. This show had already been presented in Japan.

The public space performances include "Melte" by Ana Rita Teodoro, whilst the installation by Jonathan Uliel Saldanha, themed "Vocoder & Camouflage: Tactics of Decay" approaches researches on underground acoustics and the rotting forest process.

DañsFabrik 2018 closes with DJ set by José Reis.
