The new programme "Campo de Batalha" ("Battlefield") by Teatro Municipal do Porto aims at promoting creative new work. "Battlefield" is designed as a space for artistic experimentation, providing young creatives access to the necessary conditions to showcase their work.

In that context, the creation of the performance "Savannah" by António Onio features an exotic environment, prone to abrupt change. The performance is about conceptualizing exoticism. This work is based in the author's own past.

Antonio Onio studied dance at SNDO in Amsterdam and since 2011 has worked on original projects and has worked with dancers such as Miguel Pereira, Tian Rotteveel, Igor Dobricic, Florentina Holzinger, Maria Metsalu and Young Boy Dancing Group.

The main focus of his art has been the brutal and constant questioning regarding a variety of concepts such as public and private life, the trans-disciplinary nature of performance, the body as a source of social and moral questioning, and vulnerability versus the struggle against a patriarchal society.
