Despite the unprecedented times, the circus show is in town as tradition, featuring unique acts and performers. Coliseu Porto Ageas welcomes audiences from 11th December 2020 to 3rd January 2021.

There are amazing acts as gymnastics trapeze, balancing acts or breath-taking acrobatics, mind blowing juggling and a live orchestra. Thus, the tradition of Christmas Circus, of over 80 years, brings absolute premiers, the famous Portuguese clown Rui Paixão and a live orchestra, conducted by maestro Cesário Costa. Two line-ups of 15 musicians each will perform an original soundtrack especially prepared for the show, by composer Filipe Raposo, pianist, author of several cinema and theatre soundtracks and resident at the Cinemateca Portuguesa.

There are 20 artists, who bring to Porto absolute premieres of aerobatics, illusionism, trapeze, clown, Chinese pole and tight rope acts, as well as Circus Physics, parkour and juggling. One of the headliners is Rui Paixão, the first Portuguese artist to take part in the Cirque du Soleil and who will be the ringmaster for the 2020 Xmas Circus at Coliseu Porto Ageas.

Seat availability is limited and all health measures issued by the DGS are in place. Tickets cost between 7 and 18 euros, and children up to the age of 12 have 50% discount. Free entrance for children up to three years of age. This year, there is the special family ticket, which means that when buying four tickets the lowest price ticket is offered.

New timetables

There are alterations regarding the show’s timetables, due to Covid-19 restrictions; Coliseu Porto Ageas has adapted the shows to alternative schedules, on weekends, when the shows are exclusively held at 10am.

In case you have purchased a ticket whose session has been altered, it is valid for any show the Coliseu presents until 3rd January 2021.

The session on 1st January 2021, which was scheduled for 5pm, was rescheduled for 11am, on the same day. Tickets are valid for the new timetable.
