International Day for Monuments and Sites is celebrated on 18 April and it was established to celebrate the diversity of heritage throughout the world.

In 2017, the theme is "Cultural Heritage & Sustainable Tourism", in the framework of the United Nations International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals.

This day offers the opportunity to discover Porto's cultural heritage.

Local and foreign communities and individuals are invited to consider the importance of cultural heritage to their lives, identities and communities, by grasping the sense of place and identity within the city of Porto.

The City Hall has prepared a series of commemorative events, from an Art Deco Exhibition at Casa do Infante, a guided tour to this place of rich iconography and the Contemporary period; a tour also to "Porto Desaparecido" (Faded Porto), to rediscover the city's ancient fountains and squares.

Take a chance to visit the Gothic Wall in the riverside front of Ribeirinha area, a structural element of urban development.

Rediscover the paths to the parish of Sé and Foz Velha (Old Foz) and to finish on a high note, a musical performance at Casa do Infante.
